Sustainability

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Blackheath Primary School, we believe that caring for the planet is part of being a good global citizen. From the classroom to the playground, we teach our children the importance of protecting the environment and making responsible choices.

🌱 What Sustainability Means to Us

Sustainability is about looking after the world today so it’s still beautiful and healthy for future generations. We focus on:

  • Reducing waste

  • Saving energy

  • Recycling and reusing

  • Protecting nature

  • Encouraging eco-friendly habits

🌍 Learning for the Future

Sustainability is woven into our curriculum through:

  • Science lessons about the environment, animals, and weather

  • Art projects using recycled materials

  • Writing and storytelling about nature and the planet

  • Special themed weeks such as Earth Week and Plastic-Free July

👫 Getting Involved

We encourage everyone in our school community to take part:

  • Families can support by packing litter-free lunches and encouraging eco-friendly travel

  • Children take part in green initiatives and share their ideas

  • Staff model sustainable practices and bring real-world environmental issues into learning
